Founded in 1954, Jacaranda is the Australian School Division of Wiley, a leading global learning company. We develop and deliver inspirational digital learning solutions and education resources to secondary schools in Australia because we are deeply committed to the ideal that education brings life-changing benefits to all students.
From humble beginnings to the pacesetter for digital learning solutions
Brian Clouston founded “The Jacaranda Press” as a boutique publisher of textbooks for the Queensland secondary school market. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the company expanded its product offering with the introduction of reference materials, including the first Australian produced secondary school atlas.
In 1976, the company was acquired by the US-based company Wiley. Under new leadership, Jacaranda continued to grow and seek new ways to innovate, first to publish double-page spreads, use full-colour and introduce a digital component to their resource suites in 2000. In 2008, Jacaranda pioneered digital learning in Australia with the launch of the JacarandaPLUS online platform and the first digital textbooks, known as eBookPLUS.
Today, Jacaranda combines strong customer centricity, active collaboration with authors and teachers, and highly experienced people who have powerful insights into learning, to solve teaching and learning challenges.
Solving education challenges through relentless innovation
The company’s portfolio has expanded from eBooks to online assessment platforms, educational games, interactive atlases, exam preparation platforms and high-value bundle solutions for Years 7-10. Most recently, Jacaranda launched learnON, an immersive digital learning platform that delivers trusted Jacaranda content in new and better ways to maximise learning outcomes in the classroom.
Jacaranda digital resources are designed to be intuitive and accessible to all learners and increase student engagement through high quality, media-rich content. That’s why more than half of the secondary schools in Australia rely on Jacaranda digital resources and solutions to help progress their digital learning journey.
