Reviews

I am quite stunned at the review by Steve and whilst everyone has the opportunity to make comments about a business or a service I have found this one to be a little misguided. I have been going to bonnies for more than 30 years and in all of that time I have found it to be very correct in everything that it does. The trainers are very well coached and trained by bonnies and as an owner of both small breeds and large breeds of dogs can wholly recommend the team at bonnies. I have their books and their dvds which i have used on many occasions to refer to if I am having a problem or small issue (usually my issue and not the dogs). I can understand that for the first few weeks of socialising small breeds can feel intimidated but the process ends on a very happy note with the family and my children absolutely thrilled with their pet and friend. I and I am sure thousands of others will say to you that it is very important to socialise your dog early and do this IN the presence of larger dogs. I am sure that the bigger dogs in the pen were of the SAME AGE as the smaller breed. Almost every bigger dog wants to dominate smaller or same size dogs - this is everywhere as they are dogs. I recommend that you take your dog back to Bonnies before it gets any older.

Avoid if you have a small breed! We took our 2 puppies to Bonnie’s with the main aim of helping to socialize them. Bonnie’s approach to this is to put 10 to 15 dogs together in a small pen and let them fight it out. There’s one trainer in there with them who is so busy picking up the bigger dogs that fight that they don’t notice the smaller dogs are just getting monstered. Way too many dogs packed in for the one trainer to handle. They kept telling us that it was normal and to continue as the dogs would “sort it out”. But every session ended in our dogs shaking and sitting in a puddle of their own pee after at least 6 dogs had either attacked or dominated them. Going to Bonnie's scared our dogs and has left them terrified of all other dogs. I would not recommend Bonnie’s and believe that small dog breed owners should be warned about the potential damage they could do to their puppies at such a critical stage in their social development.
